Training videos are essential tools for businesses to ensure consistency, efficiency, and safety. They streamline standard operating procedures, provide clear instructions, and create a scalable way to educate employees and customers alike. With the right production approach, companies can build lasting training libraries that support growth and development.
Training videos are a cornerstone of business communication because they help deliver information in a structured, repeatable way. Whether your organization is a startup or an established enterprise, standardized training materials reduce errors and improve consistency across teams. By documenting procedures through professional video production, businesses ensure that their staff can align with company standards and execute tasks effectively.
Training videos go beyond internal employee education. They are equally important for clients and customers who need guidance in using products or services. In the transcript, J. Wardrup referenced TigerFlow, a company that required training videos for its commercial pumps. These materials were not only critical for internal staff but also for end users in the field. By using training videos, companies extend their instructional reach beyond the walls of their organization.
Effective training videos are often designed like lesson plans, structured with a beginning, middle, and end. Module-based sequences allow viewers to build knowledge step by step. Examples include safety videos, operating procedures, or instructional guides. This approach ensures clarity and retention, making training more accessible to employees at every level.
O’Neill’s In-Flight Catering partnered with Firebrand Media to develop a training catalog for their specialized catering trucks. The focus was on both operation and safety. Modules covered load-in procedures, fuel and pressure checks, preventative maintenance, and proper handling zones. By capturing these detailed instructions, the company established a reliable resource for onboarding and ongoing staff training.
The scale of a training video library can vary widely. Some organizations require just a handful of videos, while others may need a library of over 100. The process starts with defining modules and determining the number of videos per module. A production company will also consider branding, B-roll footage, graphics, and typography. Creating a uniform style ensures that all videos remain consistent and aligned with the company’s identity.
Consistency is critical in training video production. From the introduction and closing bumpers to the typography and branding, every element contributes to a professional final product. This consistency reinforces the company’s identity while also making it easier for viewers to follow along. Clear visuals, logical pacing, and accurate details combine to create a training resource that informs rather than distracts.
While often associated with industrial or blue-collar applications, training videos have wide relevance in finance, technology, healthcare, and corporate environments. Any organization that relies on process-driven tasks can benefit from structured video training. Standard operating procedures, compliance requirements, and employee onboarding are all enhanced with visual instruction.
Training video production provides businesses with scalable solutions for instruction and safety. With careful planning and professional execution, organizations can create an evergreen library that streamlines education for employees, clients, and partners. J. Wardrup and the Firebrand Media team emphasize the importance of developing videos that are informative, visually clear, and strategically designed to align with business goals.

Hey, guys, this is J over at Firebrand Media, and today we’re talking about training video production. What is it? What can you expect out of it? And how can a videographer and/or production company help you move strategically through them?
Training videos, they’re essential to any small or large business. They help streamline the SOP or standard operating procedures of any business needing to canvas the same treatment for any and all employees. When it comes to uniformity, training videos ensure that you can get the same results and diagnose the same type of problems when you’re scaling or when you’re trying to maintain the product and service development of your business.
Training videos aren’t just limited to employees or people who are associated with the business. They’re also useful for people on the market or using your service or product. A good example of this is with a company that we’ve worked for called TigerFlow, where they wanted to put together a training video for people using their pumps. Now those pumps weren’t just consumer pumps that you would use in a garage or let’s say you would use in your business, but they were also large scale commercial pumps that they needed training material made of.
In training videos you typically have module-based lessons within an A to Z format. Like a teacher’s lesson plan, it’s laid out sequentially. Training videos can include but are not limited to safety videos, standard operating procedures, as well as educational format learning.
One of our clients, O’Neill’s In-Flight Catering, has a truck that’s built specifically for loading in food and hospitality into an airplane. This model of truck that they use in their fleet was a newer model. The client wanted us to focus on two modules: operating the actual truck and the safety of the truck. So everything from load-in zones, how to extend the loader, where to stand, where not to stand, how to check fuel and pressure gauges, as well as preventative maintenance was important to capture in their catalog of training videos.
On the low end, a set of training videos can be anywhere from three to five, all the way up to 120 videos. We’ve dealt with portfolios that are both large and small. A production company is going to want to work with a syllabus or think about a lesson plan. We want to see how many modules, how many videos are in those modules. What are the key talking points? What do the bumpers look like? Like the intro of the video — does it need to stay the same across all the training videos? Or what does the end look like? We also are going to want to know how much B-roll are we going to anticipate? Are there any graphics that are going to be included on each video? What are the special text features or typography? Is there a certain look or template that we can create that we can apply across the whole library that matches with the branding of the company?
All in all, a training library is meant to inform and teach people on how to do a process or maintain safety goals and initiatives, not distract. These videos typically have a pace and cadence that they follow as well as a format. Training videos are not just industrial or blue collar tools, but they can be used in finance, development, and tech companies that need SOPs and training logs or training videos to teach their staff their processes and how they operate.
